UMBC Student Events Board guitar picks, Fall 2008
There are lots of bits and pieces of work I’ve never really photographed and I hope to change that over the next few months. I want to really collect all of my work and have some sort of a cohesive collection.

Today, UMBC’s campus portal site, myUMBC, relaunched it’s Events section with a slew of great new features, courtesy of UMBC’s Division of Information Technology. The new design also features a number of my photos of campus life, some of which can be viewed in this tutorial video they’ve created.

UMBC Art Week 2010 Treatment (via adamjk)
Final version for use. I adjusted the alignment to match Jenna Ullrich’s revision to the logo, tried to get more gold strands visible (and made sure they looked more gold than yellow) through the cut-out, and generally shot a cleaner photo for a more polished feel. I still like the rough version, but this is more appropriate for the print materials it will ultimately be used on.

For Art Week 2010 at UMBC, Co-chairs Jenna Ullrich and Tazuko Sugajima have opted to do a complete series of “artist interpretations” of the logo. There are handdrawn patterns, puffy paint, sequins, tiny headless people, and more.
I am considering different textures to photograph through a stencil I’ve cut, and taking quick snapshots on my cellphone. This one shows a black and gold pom-pom from a UMBC Retrievers basketball game.

happy new year 2010

Another use of this photo, this time on new years postcards I’m sending to a few people. This piece and the last I posted definitely share similar characteristics, even the treatment for “2010,” though this drawn type is based on ITC Century Ultrabold Italic. It’s interesting to think that a photo I took on my cellphone Monday morning is now used in two very separate pieces. Sometimes that’s just how my brain works, I guess. Everything flows.
