UMBC Weekly Events Poster - Week of September 7th
The idea here was to use all three of my “go-to” ribbon illustrations, as a bit of a tongue-in-cheek in-joke. I don’t know if anyone but me will get it, but that’s beside the point.

Literally just in time for the 2009-2010 Academic Year (new students arrive at UMBC this weekend), the new UMBC Student Events Board site has launched. It’s a little sparse, but it has yet to be turned over to the new SEB design staff, who will no doubt fill it with all sorts of content.
I redid the SEB website when I started with them in 2007, so it’s nice to wrap up my work with them by doing the site one more time. This new site better utilizes the sidebar to include external content, and the navigation is more straightforward. The site also focuses attention to twitter and blog updates (both of which are tied to Facebook).

This afternoon I am designing the fall 2009 service hours signs for the UMBC Commons building, using some “school themed” illustrations by Emily Jenkins, along with some of my own in the same style. I love pencils!
Emily and I joked about apples when she initially created these images, so I was sure to add one to the mix as well. “It’s not for a teacher!”

I’ve been intending to create some sort of identity treatment for my ongoing project, It’s Past My Bedtime, for months now. Here it is, in all of it’s lo-fi glory. I also added a bit of a description to the page for people who find it and aren’t sure what it is.

Documentation of the 2009-2010 UMBC Student Handbook is now up on my website. This was an extended project that I completed from top to bottom. Reformatting the UMBC university policies and resource guide, redesigning the weekly calendar pages, photographing all the students on the cover… all of it was done by me.
I also managed to squeeze in some of my own style by way of small illustrations. Students will find my ribbon on the cover, as well as my laptop and pencil illustrations on the weekly calendar pages.
